Charlie Benante releases new album, Silver Linings
Anthrax's drummer, Charlie Benante, who is also the writer behind many of the tracks in the band's decades-deep catalog, recently released a solo project crafted in the lost year that was 2020. Silver Linings is an eclectic musical journey from the first to last track that was created in quarantine. Instead of sitting on his hands, Benante gathered some of his amazingly talented friends and put together a powerhouse album when the world effectively shut down. It's one more project from 2020 that proves that adversity feeds creativity. The album is a Who's Who of top musical talent, including Anthrax bandmates Frank Bello and Jon Donias, Volbeat's Rob Caggiano, Testament's Alex Skolnick, Death Angel's Mark Osegueda, Skid Row's Dave “Snake” Sabo, The Butcher Babies' Carla Harvey, Living Color's Corey Glover,Run-
DMC's Darryl “DMC” McDaniels and John 5, to name only a few.
From the opener, U2's “City of Burning Lights” to Fleetwood Mac's “Rhiannon” to the classic KISS tune “Mr. Speed,” this album, born out of such a miserable year, is amazingly upbeat and fun. It hits every high note you'd want from an all-star album and is definitely a silver lining from the pandemic we were plunged into last year. Pun 100% intended.
Available on Apple Music, iTunes and if you are one of the cool kids, a great two-platter vinyl package is available to grab as well.
